The Asteroid Project

This is a blogular cluster by me, Damian Marley. I am a teacher-hubby-dad-nerdburger from Melbourne, Australia. Astronomy, space, science, books, filmmaking, education and music are some of the things I bang on about. Most stuff I post is original.

As commissioned/inspired by morefunthanbeingsad, I am very pleased to present a visual rumination upon the eating and judging of the team from MasterChef. I call it:

MasterMash!

I have always been fascinated by MasterChef. I do believe it’s the most ridiculous TV show on Earth, in the way that it piles on the drama and the self-narration. In particular, I have always been mortified by the judging bits, when the judges eat the food. It’s very off-putting. It’s like watching other people have sex - but not in a good way. 

The end result is creepy; such a perfect mash between Ligeti and MasterChef. The high budget TV photography becomes truly arty when divorced from its soundtrack. The slow motion lets us savour (geddit?) the beauty of the image.

Thanks, Joel! And thanks to the power of social media. And thanks Mr Ligeti, and the MasterChef people.
