The Asteroid Project

This is a blogular cluster by me, Damian Marley. I am a teacher-hubby-dad-nerdburger from Melbourne, Australia. Astronomy, space, science, books, filmmaking, education and music are some of the things I bang on about. Most stuff I post is original.

Don’t worry: no plot-spoiling here. You’ll never get a plot summary or smarmy movie-talk when I post about films; just general impressions of the experience. This is because my opinion is no more valid than anyone else’s, and I’d hate to spoil the experience for others. I saw The Dark Knight Rises this morning and my face must have looked strange all the way through. The only word I can think of to describe the experience is unbearable, because I was SO taken away by the drama, the action, the texture and the soundtrack. I had plenty of man-quakes and man-sooks throughout, and even though my bladder was bursting from drinking too much Coke, I sat through to the end and only bailed out to the men’s during the end credits. I had to return to my seat for a mental debrief. Christopher Nolan is onto something. He makes molten mixes of art movie and action blockbuster. He is a master of tone and texture, and I love movies.
