Captain Scott’s black mood, captured in his diary entries in December 1911. Scott and his men had been hit by a four-day blizzard near the foot of the Beardmore Glacier, on their way to the pole. It’s amazing to me how he wrote so beautifully, in the light of the primus, in the cold, in his tent.
